Usui Reiki is a form of energy healing that originates from Japan. Reiki practitioners use hands-on healing where a universal energy is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient. This will encourage emotional or physical healing. The word “Reiki’ comes from the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy). Energy can become stagnant in the body where it has been injured or there are blocked emotions within the patient (eg when you're stressed and you get a headache or a sore back).
Reiki healing targets the energy fields around the body and helps clear that blocked energy and promote healing within the body. Reiki can be used for many things - to help you relax, reduce stress and anxiety, reduce physical or emotional pain, to help balance your energy or to give your body revitalising and strengthening energy.
During the treatment the patient will lie on a massage table, fully clothed. The practitioner will place their hands on the client in various hand positions which allows the healing energy to flow through the practitioner to the patient. You may feel hot or cold, unreleased emotions may come up, you will feel the energy flow with possible tingling sensations. The effects can be felt emotionally and physically.
